Before You Start
Ensure that Business Units are enabled for your organization. If not, please reach out to our support team at support@workpath.com. Setting up Business Units requires a conversation and some time to configure by your IT department, and it is a paid software add-on. We are happy to provide a sandbox environment for you to experiment with this feature before activating it for your organization.
Creating a Business Unit
- Access Business Units & Teams Settings: Go to Settings > Organization Settings > Business Units & Teams.
- Initiate Business Unit Creation: Click on the + button at either the top or bottom of the page, and select "Create Business Unit". If you don't see this option, you may lack the necessary permissions and should contact your program lead.
- Fill in Business Unit Details:
- Name: Enter a name for your Business Unit.
- External ID: This field will be filled by someone from your IT department once the Single Sign-On (SSO) is configured. This helps in identifying which BU a user belongs to.
- Create the Business Unit: Click on "Create" to finalize the creation of the Business Unit.
Editing a Business Unit
- Navigate to Business Unit Settings: Go to the same Business Units & Teams settings page.
- Select Business Unit: In the list of BUs, find the Business Unit you wish to edit and click on the options menu next to it, then select "View Business Unit".
- Edit Business Unit Details: Click on "Edit", make the necessary changes, and then click on "Save" to apply the changes.
Deleting a Business Unit
To delete a Business Unit, please contact the Workpath support team at support@workpath.com. Due to the significance of this action, it cannot be performed by customers directly.
Creating Teams within Business Units
- Access Business Unit Team Settings: Navigate to Business Units & Teams settings again.
- Initiate Team Creation: Click on the + button at the top, and select "Create Team".
- Specify Business Unit for the Team: In the team-creation interface, choose the Business Unit where the team belongs, then continue as usual. This setting cannot be changed later, so select it carefully.
