Create Key Results
Option 1: Create Key Results with the Key Result Assistant
Here's a short video showing this option. Below you find a step-by-step explanation.
Step 1: Open the Key Results Assistant by clicking on Key Result Assistant below a Goal title.
Step 2: Together with your team members, read through your Goal again and identify all "Promises" you're making in it. Promises are usually included in the Goal's Value and Future State, such as "faster", "more mobile-friendly", "more satisfied with the process", "save time" etc.. For each Promise you make in your Goal, select its text and select one of the Promises in the dropdown.
If you have more than two promises, you can add more Promises - simply scroll down to the last promise and click on + Add Promise.
Step 3: For each Promise you identified, brainstorm how you could measure if you have delivered that promise. Afterwards, write it down in the input field below the Promise. E.g. for the Promise "users are more satisfied with the process" you could survey users about their satisfaction with the process after they've experienced it.
Sometimes, you may not find good metrics to measure the Promise. In case you come up with other metrics that measure something slightly different, consider changing the Promise in the Goal to reflect what the other metric would measure and use that metric instead. To do so, simply change the text of the Promise in the Goal Title right within the modal - your changes will be automatically synced and update your Customer, Value, and Future State tags. In case you don't come up with good metrics, it is recommended to remove that Promise from the Goal title.
Step 4: Last but not least and define start and target values for each Key Result, define owners, and add a description. See more on that in the section "Edit Key Results".
Option 2: Create Key Results without the Key Result Assistant
Step 1: Click on + Add Key Result below a Goal title.
Step 2: Enter the title of your Key Result.

Edit Key Results
Step 1: Hover over the Key Result title and click on the side panel icon next to the owner.
Step 2: In the side panel you can add and edit the following information for Goals:
- Description: useful for providing further context, links, etc.
- Owner: define who'll be responsible for driving forward progress on the Key Result and for making sure that the progress is updated regularly. Defining owners for Key Results verifiably increases chances to achieve a Key Result, as does having different owners for each Key Result.
- Metric: define how you'll measure the Key Result. Learn more about the different options here.
Step 3: Close the side panel by clicking on the x icon in the top right corner.
Delete Key Results
Hover over the Key Result title, click the icon with three dots, and click on Delete Key Result.
To make sure Key Results aren't deleted by accident, you'll be asked to confirm the deletion in a pop-up afterwards.
FAQs & Troubleshooting
How do I create or change Promises?
Once you have defined the title of your Goal, click on Key Result Assistant to identify and select the Promises of your Goal and connect them with Key Results. For more details, please read the section Create Key Results with Key Result Assistant on this page.
Can (accidentally) deleted Key Results be restored?
Yes, they can but it'll require Workpath's Customer Support to be involved. Please reach out to us at support@workpath.com.
Are drafted Key Results saved automatically?
Yes, the changes you make on your drafts are automatically saved every few seconds.
