Overview
The OKR Quality Report evaluates the effectiveness of drafted OKRs during the OKR process using AI-powered quality checks. This report helps teams ensure their Objectives and Key Results (KRs) are well-structured, aligned with best practices, and drive meaningful impact.
The report consists of three dashboards:
- Summary – A high-level overview of OKR quality scores and key metrics.
- Org Drill Down – A detailed breakdown of OKR quality at the team hierarchy levels.
- Trends – Insights into OKR quality improvements over multiple cycles.
Key Metrics & Definitions
Filter Metrics
-
Cycles:
- A cycle includes the current period, recent past cycles, and select future cycles to allow for planning.
- The last four completed cycles and the current cycle are always included.
- A future cycle is included only if its start date falls within the next 30 days.
- This approach ensures teams can review past performance while preparing for upcoming cycles.
-
Teams:
- A team is included in a cycle if it was created on or before the cycle’s end date and remains active.
-
Goals:
- A goal is included if its start date is on or before the cycle’s end date and its target date is on or after the cycle’s start date.
- The goal must be either active or in draft status.
-
Key Results:
- Key Results are tied to their respective goals and inherit the lifecycle alignment from them.
- They must be created on or before the cycle’s end date and remain active.
-
Quality Score:
- The quality score for each Objective and Key Result is calculated based on the percentage of quality score criteria met for each respective Objective/Key Result.
Summary Dashboard
This dashboard provides a quick assessment of OKR quality in the selected cycle, offering a snapshot of team performance.
- OKR Avg. Quality Score – Measures the overall quality of active team OKRs within a cycle. The score is calculated by first averaging the quality scores of all Key Results under an Objective. Then, the Objective’s quality score is averaged with this Key Result average to determine the OKR's overall quality score. Finally, the average of all OKR quality scores across the Organization is computed to derive the final OKR Avg. Quality Score.
-
Objective Checked –The total number of Objectives evaluated for quality within the cycle.
- Key Results Checked –The total number of Key Results evaluated for quality within the cycle.
- Teams Drafted OKRs – The percentage of active teams that have created at least one OKR (active or draft) within the cycle.
Quality Scores – Objectives
Each Objective is evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Easy to Understand – The Objective is simple, well-structured, and avoids unnecessary complexity while maintaining clarity for all stakeholders.
- Qualitative – The Objective defines a vision or direction without focusing on specific numerical targets or metrics.
- Outcome-Oriented – The Objective emphasizes the value or change it aims to create rather than listing actions or processes.
- Customer-Centric – The Objective is focused on addressing the needs of internal or external customers, ensuring relevance and impact.
Metrics:
- % Objectives fulfilling this criterion – The percentage of Objectives that meet the specified quality criterion out of the total number of Objectives that have been assessed.
- % Teams fulfilling this criterion – The percentage of teams where the majority of their Objectives meet the specific quality criterion, out of all teams that have had at least one Objective assessed.
Quality Scores – Key Results
Key Results are assessed based on the following dimensions:
- Measures the Objective – The Key Result provides a clear and measurable way to track progress toward the Objective.
- Short and Concise – The Key Result is precise, clearly articulated, and avoids unnecessary details.
- Quantitative – The Key Result is based on numerical indicators that enable objective tracking of progress.
- Focuses on Outcomes, not Tasks – The Key Result defines success in terms of impact and results rather than specific tasks or actions.
Metrics:
- % Key Results fulfilling this criterion – The percentage of Key Results that meet the specified quality criterion out of the total number of Key Results that have been assessed.
- % Teams fulfilling this criterion – The percentage of teams where the majority of their Key Results meet the specific quality criterion, out of all teams that have had at least one Key Result assessed.
Org Drill Down Dashboard
This dashboard presents OKR quality insights based on the organization's hierarchical structure (HL-1, HL-2, HL-3, HL-4). It allows users to assess and compare OKR performance across different organizational units.
- Team HL Quality Score – Represents the aggregated OKR quality score at a specific hierarchical level within the organization.
- Qualitative Scores per Team – By hovering over a specific team HL score, users can view a detailed breakdown of quality scores for teams within that lineage, along with their team age over the cycle. This helps assess how effectively teams adhere to OKR quality standards.
- Teams Without OKRs – Teams that have not drafted OKRs are indicated with "---" for clarity.
- OKR Quality Criteria Filter – Enables users to refine the displayed scores by including or excluding specific quality criteria for a more focused analysis.
Trends Dashboard
The Trends dashboard visualizes the evolution of OKR quality scores over multiple cycles. It includes:
- Overview Cycles Comparison – The aggregated OKR quality score over different cycles.
- Objective and Key Result Metrics Over Time – Trends in the evolution of Objectives and Key Results quality criteria across cycles.
