ℹ️ Before you can use Workpath for Microsoft Teams, an administrator needs to configure it – see here.
💬 Open the Workpath app in Microsoft Teams
Benefits of the MS Teams Integration:
- Chat with the Workpath AI Companion to ask about your data and get things done, right inside Teams
- Keep your most important Goals always top of mind
- Update progress on Key Results, right from within Teams
- Receive timely notifications, e.g. about outdated Key Results
Logging into the Workpath App in MS Teams
Before you can start using the app, you must log in with your Workpath account. You can sign in from either the Chat tab or the For me tab — and signing in once signs you in across the whole app. In the Chat tab, click Log in on the welcome message, or simply type log in.
You'll then be asked for the domain of your Workpath account, which is the part before “.workpath.com”, e.g. acme.workpath.com
If your organization has set up SSO (single sign on) for Workpath, you will be able to see a page similar to the following after you have clicked "continue":
Click on the button to start the SSO flow. Alternatively, you can also login with your password if that is what you use to access Workpath.
Chat with the Workpath AI Companion
The Chat tab (previously called "Activity") is now a full conversation with the Workpath AI Companion. You'll still receive notifications there about items that need your attention — and now you can also write messages and get answers, with the Companion drawing on the data in your connected Workpath account.
Note: Chatting with the AI Companion is only available to customers who have the Workpath AI Companion enabled.
Once you're signed in, just type your message in the Chat tab. For example, you can:
- Ask about your Goals, Key Results and progress (e.g. "How are my Key Results tracking this cycle?")
- Draft and create new Goals and Key Results
- Post progress updates and add notes on Key Results and Initiatives
- Get help planning across teams, and answers to "how do I…" questions about Workpath
- Find and link Azure DevOps work items to your Goals (if enabled for your account)
A few things still happen in the Workpath web app rather than in Teams — uploading files, exporting reports (such as Excel or PDF), and voice input. The Companion can share a direct link to take you there.
Responses are generated by AI and may be incorrect, so please review important information before acting on it.
Viewing Goals
In MS Teams you can view all Goals in which you are involved as an owner, team member or stakeholder. To get to the overview follow these steps:
- Open the MS Teams app on your desktop or phone
- Click on the Workpath icon in the sidebar
- Open the For me tab
Updating Key Results
You can also update Key Results directly from within MS Teams.
- Click on the progress percentage of any Key Result to update it
- Adjust the progress and/or confidence level
- Optionally, add a comment for further context
- Click "Update" to save the changes
Learn more about how to calculate the Goal progress and confidence level here.
Notifications
Notifications to e.g. update Key Results are now also available directly within the app instead of just via email. The respective action can be taken directly from there without leaving MS Teams.
This now includes the AI Companion's proactive nudges — for example "this Key Result hasn't been updated in 3 weeks" or "this Goal has no Key Results yet". They arrive as cards showing the Goal, Key Result or Initiative concerned, with a one-tap button to act on it in Workpath. You'll only receive them once you've signed in to the Chat tab at least once, which links your Teams identity to your Workpath account. Nudges are part of the Program Lead Skill Set.
FAQs
Do users with a viewer license have access to this integration as well? If so, what's shown?
Yes, viewers also have access to the MS Teams integration. They'll see their for homepage, too, but won't be able to update progress on Key Results, and won't receive notifications.
